Hi there, and welcome to Business English with Jaimi . I’m Jaimi and today we’re talking about how to start a business presentation the right way. You might be wondering, why does starting a presentation matter so much? Starting your presentation is like saying hello to someone new. It’s the first thing people notice and it sets the tone for everything else you say.Just like when you meet someone for the first time, you want to make a good impression when you start a presentation. It’s your chance to show your audience that you’re interesting and worth listening to. Let’s check out some good ways to start a presentation and talk about why they’re good. Imagine you’re starting a presentation by saying something friendly like, Good morning everyone, it’s nice to be here today.This makes people feel welcome and sets a positive tone for your presentation. Now let’s think about another way. As a digital marketer, you could start your presentation with an interesting question like, Have you ever thought about how computers affect what people buy? This makes people interested and makes them want to join in.Why do you think these ways are good? And what makes them work? Well, here are two reasons. The greetings are nice and make people feel good. And the other, the questions are interesting and make you think about the topic right away. By being friendly and asking interesting questions, these ways help you connect with the audience and make them want to listen.Remember, starting your business presentation well is your chance to make people interested in what you have to say. So try to start in a way that makes people want to listen. Before we finish with this section, let’s look at other good ways to start a business presentation. Start with a quote. Steve Jobs once said, Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is good work.Today we’re going to talk about how we can help your company do great work with our digital marketing strategies. Pose a thought provoking question. Have you ever thought about how people use the internet to decide what to buy? Let’s explore how we can use this information to help your business grow.Share a startling fact or statistic. Did you know that over 80 percent of consumers are more likely to make a purchase after watching a video about your product? Today, we’ll delve into the impact of video marketing on driving conversions and boosting ROI. Tell a story. Imagine a scenario where a small local business doubled its revenue within six months by implementing targeted social media advertising.Today, I’ll share the story of how we achieved this remarkable success and discuss strategies for replicating it.Create an interactive activity. Let’s start with a quick survey. How many of you use media every day? Understanding how people use social media will help us make better marketing decisions. Make a bold statement or proposition. In today’s competitive world, it’s not enough to just have a good product. You need to have a strong online presence too.Let’s talk about how we can make your company stand out online. You can use humor. They say that a picture’s worth a thousand words. Well today, we’re going to make sure that your company’s online pictures are saying the right things. Sharing personal experience. Before we start, I want to tell you about a time when I tried to buy something online and couldn’t find any good information about it.It made me realize how important good online marketing is. Highlight a problem or pain point.We’ve identified a common pain point among your target audience. The lack of seamless mobile shopping experiences. Today we’ll discuss how optimizing your website for mobile can alleviate this frustration and drive higher conversions. Pose a rhetorical question. Have you ever thought about what your company would look like if it had a million followers on social media?Today we’re going to talk about how we can make this happen.Now that we’ve talked about different ways to start a presentation, let’s focus on another important part, introducing the topic. Introducing the topic means giving your audience a clear idea of what you’ll talk about and why it’s important. Let’s look at some of the ways to do this. Introducing your topic well is also like giving your audience a map.It helps them understand what you’re going to talk about and why it matters. So let’s see how to do this.Imagine you’re starting your presentation by saying something short like, Today we’re talking about how social media affects what people buy. This tells the audience exactly what your presentation is about and why it’s important. Now let’s look at another example. You could start your presentation with a strong statement like, In today’s digital world, social media has changed how people decide what to buy.This grabs the audience’s attention and shows them why your topic is important.Why do you think these examples are good, and what makes these work?Well, here are two reasons. The short topic overview is clear and tells us exactly what to expect. And in the other, the strong statement grabs attention and shows us why the topic matters. By being clear and making a strong statement about your topic, you can get your audience interested and show them why your topic is important.To finish, remember that introducing the topic well is the first step in getting your audience interested. Take your time to make an introduction that’s clear and shows why your topic matters. Before we finish this lesson, let’s look at other ways to introduce your topic. You could share a relevant story.Imagine a time when a big phone company used clever marketing to get people interested in their products. This shows how good marketing can help a business, which we’ll talk about today. Highlight a current event or trend. With more people shopping online these days, it’s important for companies to use digital marketing well.Today we’ll talk about how Samsung can do this. State the problem or challenge. Samsung has a problem reaching customers online because there are so many other companies doing the same thing. Today, we’ll talk about how Samsung can stand out. Provide a quick overview. Today, we’ll talk about three things, using social media to make Samsung more popular, making online ads that bring in more money, and using data to make Samsung marketing better.You can pose a hypothetical situation. Imagine Samsung started using social media in a way and got more customers. Today, we’ll talk about how this could happen. Share personal reasons. I really care about digital marketing and I’m excited to talk to Samsung about it today. I think we can do great things together.Or, offer a preview of benefits. By the end of our talk, Samsung will know more about digital marketing, be more popular online, and make more money. We’ll give Samsung good ideas to help them do this.
